From the Desk of Ron Fittes...
I have been
focused on this Shelby County Commission seat for the last four years. After having worked in Government (Police
Department) I have a very good sense of the issues this community faces. When I refer to community, I am referring to
all of Shelby County.
Public Safety: I will not support any cuts to
Public Safety whatsoever. We will make
sure our agencies are fully funded. That
should be and is a TOP priority.
Education is
also a top priority. If we can offer the highest quality education to our young people, we can create a strong work force
for our community and will be able to attract new businesses. Before we can attract new businesses, we
need to do a little house cleaning.
Business owners look at this community, its assets, government,
education and public safety. What they find, sadly is a lot of negative news because of some decisions currently being made in government.
As a
negotiator, and mediator, I will use my skills to bring positive
decisions that affect Shelby County. In
Shelby County we are too divided. We need more cohesive, positive things coming from Government that will produce positive results in the
community.
I will be able to give this part time position my full time. We need people who can put all their time and energy into
it and not just one day a week or so.
Some elected officials tend to go into hiding once elected and only show
up at election time. I will not be one
of those. I plan to be in the community daily. Visibility is important. As a career public servant, being in the
public is not new to me.
Once elected, I will begin working immediately to help this county move forward.
I have a vision for Shelby County. If someone doesn’t step up with a vision, the vision we will see is something we don’t want.
